Square Roots is a business born out of two people’s passion for solid wood. And how it can be designed and crafted into stunning furniture, that reveals its true nature.
Edward Stoddart is The Alchemist. He has a deep understanding of antique methods and a questing, eccentric eye. Justin Wheatcroft is The Woodsman. He has a mathematician’s mind and a forrester’s soul. Together The Woodsman and The Alchemist are like strawberries and pepper – an unexpected, yet excellent pairing.

A journey in the making
We first opened our doors in 2007, as an artisan workshop in Ho Chi Minh City. Fourteen years later our furniture has found its home around the world, from major retailers such as Anthropologie in the US and Europe, to Norhor in China, where we operate as Root & Branch.
As the business has expanded we’ve remained true to our passion for carefully considered design, high-quality materials and a desire to bring nature into the home.
